The 15103068 Paint Grade Pocket Door Jamb Kit: A Convenient Solution for Finishing Pocket Door Frames

The 15103068 Paint Grade Pocket Door Jamb Kit is a fast and convenient method for finishing Pocket Door Frames. This kit eliminates the need for ripping special thickness stock, as you simply cut the components to length and install them. The kit comes pre-primed, ready for painting to suit your desired aesthetic.

The kit is designed for use with 4-9/16" (116mm) walls and 1-3/8" (35mm) doors up to 3'0" (914mm) x 6'8" (2,032mm) in size. The package includes five boards: two split header boards, two split jamb boards, and a strike jamb board. Casing is not included, as there is a wide variety of options available to suit your preferences.

The 1510/1511 Jamb Kits are made of finger-jointed (primed for paint) pine (1510) or stain-grade pine (1511). These universal kits are designed to fit most pocket door frames, making them a versatile choice. They serve as a perfect companion to the Johnson 1500 Pocket Door Frame, and they also enable builders or DIY enthusiasts to install the jambs according to the recommended instructions.

Installation Instructions:

1. Install the Pocket Door Frame following the instructions as normal, including drywalling around the opening. Carefully measure the height "A" (from the floor to the bottom of the frame header) and cut the 11/16" (17.5mm) x 4-9/16" (2,032mm) Strike Jamb to this length.

2. Open the door fully (the door will protrude into the opening) and cut the split jambs to "B". Fasten them to the front edge of the frame, maintaining a minimum 3/16" (4.7mm) clearance on both sides of the door. Raise or lower the hangers to plumb the door with the split jambs.

3. Shim and plumb the strike jamb (the wide piece) with the door.

4. Carefully cut the split headers to "C". Determine the side of the hangers with the lock arm and fasten this header with screws for easy removal. Nail the other side, maintaining a 3/16" (4.7mm) clearance on each side of the door.

5. Fasten the bottom door guides so that the door stays centered in the pocket and travels easily without binding.

6. Finish with your choice of casings (not included).
